Sniff Out What's New!

We have added lots of new items during this last month. We attended a product show in early October and found lots of new fun things. Check out the crunchy dog treats by Polka Dog Bakery. These treats are both tasty & healthy (a requirement of ours – food items must be both for us to carry them!) and we have them in 2 flavors – Meat Lovers and Lo Cal.

Tuff Enough toys are pretty darn tough and lots of fun for dogs of all shapes and sizes. They come in 3 different shapes - bone, boomerang and tug.

And we love the new human apparel items that we've added! Take a look at the short sleeve women's Peace t-shirt that includes the popular Wag More Bark Less phrase. And for the upcoming colder weather we've added a few long sleeve designs in both unisex and women's style. Check these out and even more items in our What's New section.

Madison Store News

We are now open 7 days a week! Beginning this week we will be open on Mondays from 10:00 - 5:00. Come in and meet
Mary - our new employee! She is very knowledgeable about dogs - has 3 of her own and is involved with Golden Retriever
Rescue of Wisconsin (GRRoW). Mary's interest is in nutrition and holistic care so she has many resources and information to share.

Mary's dog, Chelsea (a puppy mill survivor!)

We are now carrying Eagle Pack Holistic (canine) and Orijen (canine & feline) dry foods. We also have a lot more items that are in our store but not yet on our site. Come in and check out the coats and sweaters for those dogs that need some added warmth during our cold winters.

This Sunday, November 9, is the Badger Kennel Club Dog Fair at the Alliant Energy Center. It is a great opportunity to learn about many different breeds, see demonstrations, listen to lectures and shop! Come and visit us at our booth. We'll have a selection of items from our store (human t-shirts & sweatshirts, artwork, note cards, healthy treats, collars and more!). We are happy to announce that Dr. Chris Bessent will be at our booth for the day. She is an acupuncturist and herbologist and will be available to talk with people about the healing properties of Chinese herbs.

Friday, December 5, from 5:00 - 9:00pm is the annual Atwood-Winnebago Winter Festival. It's a very fun event and a chance to visit our vibrant neighborhood. We will be offering tasty treats (for humans) and will have Free Gift Wrapping with donations being accepted for Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin.

Adopt a Senior Pet Month

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month and the ASPCA has listed the Top Ten reasons to adopt an older dog. Be sure to read #3 as it includes stories that were submitted by people who adopted seniors.

We can attest to how gratifying it is to adopt a senior dog. Our story and tribute to Ruby:

Ruby ~ Miss Rubles Scoobles (as she loved to be called) was a wonderful companion that joined our family at the age of 13 1/2. Because of the condition she was in when we adopted her we had anticipated a few months of hospice care. Instead we got to enjoy her sweetness for 3 years before she died April 7, 2008. She was a goofy (and sleepy) girl that made us laugh and filled our hearts and our home.
